Asus formalizes the Pegasus 2 Plus with 5.5 inches Full HD screen and 615 Snapdragon SoC

The Taiwanese manufacturer has just lifted the veil on the Pegasus 2 Plus, a new entry-PHABLET that seems designed to counter the arrival of Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. Asus recently formalized the successor to the X002 Pegasus at an event in China. But unfortunately this new PHABLET, which a manufacturer has appointed Pegasus 2 Plus, should not exceed the boundaries of the Middle Kingdom.

The Asus Pegasus 2 Plus therefore takes over from Pegasus X002, but it differs by positioning itself as PHABLET, as the term "Plus" indicates to us. It has indeed a screen 5.5-inch Full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels), which contrasts with the slab of 5 inch HD Pegasus X002. It is also much better equipped inside because as we know from GSM Dome, it integrates a 64-bit SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 and 3 GB of RAM.

Note also improved camera equipment, since instead of the 8 and 5 megapixel sensors, we find this Asus Pegasus 2 comes with 13 megapixel sensor with LED flash and an 8 megapixel webcam on the front of the device. Its autonomy is provided by a 3030 mAh battery while the camera works under the latest version of Android, namely 5.1.1 Lollipop, accompanied by Zen UI overlay.

If we know already that this Asus Pegasus 2 Plus will be sold in two colors (pink and white gold), we still have no information about its price. But in principle, if it follows the positioning of its predecessor (the price hovered around 100$), it should benefit from an affordable rate.

As we said in the beginning of the article, this new entry-PHABLET should be reserved for the Chinese market. It also seems that it was designed to counter Xiaomi, which should launch shortly its Redmi Note 2. Redmi Note 2 comes with a Full HD screen of 5.5 inches, an octa-core MT6795 chipset, 13 megapixels camera and a battery of 3000 mAh, it should enter into direct competition with the Asus Pegasus 2 more in the coming weeks.
